Tsurumi UK Ltd is a subsidiary of the European division Tsurumi (Europe) GMBH, which forms part of the global network of companies belonging to Tsurumi Manufacturing Company Ltd of Japan. Tsurumi has been manufacturing submersible pumps since 1924 for use in civil engineering, construction, wastewater treatment and domestic applications. Tsurumi pumps are designed to be used in the most demanding environments and are renowned for their outstanding durability and reliability.

As a global organisation, Tsurumi has a local presence in Europe, USA, Africa, the Middle East, Asia and Australia. The company also has production centres in Japan, Taiwan, China and Vietnam. Tsurumi has been active in the UK since 1974. Distributed by Obart Pumps Ltd, Tsurumi pumps were the first lightweight 110 volt submersible pumps to be used in the UK construction industry. Proven to be highly reliable with low whole life costs, single phase Tsurumi pumps are still acknowledged as the leading brand in this market.

Since the 1970s, three phase Tsurumi pumps have been used extensively on major infrastructure and civil engineering projects and in pump hire fleets throughout the UK, where Tsurumi has gained an enviable reputation for quality and reliability.

Innovative product development and strict quality control continue to lay at the heart of a Tsurumi pump in the 21st century, while also proving environmentally and user friendly. Tsurumi have adopted sustainable manufacturing methods at their latest factory, while utilising renewable energy within their headquarters and warehousing in Japan. The Tsurumi UK warehouse has been powered by solar panels since 2012 and is certified Energy and Operational Carbon Neutral with a published BS PAS2060 Qualifying Explanatory Statement. It’s also WEEE certified, so complies with UK Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment regulations which controls how products are managed at the end of their lifecycle and encourages recycling and reuse. Pumps have always been designed to be dismantled easily for repair and this now enables them to be dismantled easily for recycling, reducing the damage to the environment from extracting new raw materials from the Earth. To contribute further environmental and social impact, the UK subsidiary have launched the “Tsurumi Tree Planting Project” whereby 1 x tree will be planted for every Tsurumi brand pump sold in the UK during 2024. Trees are planted within the UK and overseas. The UK trees will be planted by the “Green Taskforce” charity, who employ ex armed forces personnel to help to assist in returning to full time employment as well as treating mental health issues through NBT (Nature Based Therapy).
