Certification Management Limited (CML) was established in June 2013 and offers a complete range of hazardous area product certification and safety compliance services.
We provide ATEX, IECEx, Japanese, functional safety and quality management system certification services and associated advisory and training courses. We also provide fast access through our partner network to North America.
CML is an EU Notified Body for ATEX, Directive 2014/34/EU. This is supported by our UKAS and RvA accreditations, with the scope giving us the ability to issue certificates for every protection concept under the IEC 60079 series of standards. Appointed in 2014, we are also an IECEx Certification Body (ExCB) and test laboratory (ExTL). Our first ATEX and IECEx certificates were issued in September 2013 and April 2014 respectively and we are leading the world in annual numbers of issued IECEx certificates.
In March 2017, CML became the world’s first Registered Type-examination Agency outside of Japan for Ex equipment for use within Japan. CML can provide a bridge to Japan, help you through the requirements and explain the differences. The certification requirements are detailed in Japanese law in a way that is different to the broad principles of EU directives.
CML has quickly grown into a world-renowned provider of product approvals. With a team of expert assessment and test engineers we provide a responsive, competent, credible and innovative approach to product approvals that leads the way in the provision of Ex compliance and related services.
CML also provides UKAS accredited services such as functional safety certification for hardware and software and quality management system certification. Alongside this we can facilitate access to worldwide markets through our International certification support service. We also provide training and test services such as ingress protection and environmental conditioning.
CML also became the world’s first certification body to issue IECEx certification for Ex s ‘Special Protection’, with UK-based client becoming the first manufacturer to adopt the concept. The Ex s, standard IEC 60079-33, is the IECEx certification basis for products used in explosive atmospheres where those products do not fall completely within the requirements of the existing protection standards. This requires the application and verification of engineering judgment that can only be performed by a body such as CML, that can demonstrate the availability of multiple resources with a broad knowledge and relevant experience.
