Grundfos Fire sets standard for Chelsea Creek development

1/03/2021

Fire suppression in high rise applications has been much in the news recently, sadly for many of the wrong reasons. However, despite the underlining tragedy that lies behind this focus, there have been some positive outcomes, and a greater emphasis on effective fire solutions is definitely one of them.

A recent beneficiary of this focus is Chelsea Creek, in London Docklands, that has seen a 10 acre brownfield site transformed into a lively and vibrant village hub, that began back in 2016. This phase comprises of two high-rise residential buildings of 7 and 31 storeys, and is on schedule to be completed in 2022, and is the final phase

To meet current legislative demands, Grundfos Pumps have supplied a Hyrise 23 fire solution that comprises of a control panel and a twin electric hydrant pump set that can deliver 1500 l/min. This set will ensure that a fire pump is installed and fully operational before the building can exceed 50m in height, (in this case the taller building height is approx. 122m).

This Grundfos solution, that is built at our plant in Sunderland, will protect both the building infrastructure and the many workers who will play their part in the final delivery, as well as being ready to supply the assurance needed to the people who will call this development their home.
